Non-surgical rhinoplasty or a “liquid nose job” is a minimally invasive treatment that can reshape the nose using injectable fillers.

While many people experience a lack of confidence due to the appearance of their nose, non-surgical rhinoplasty provides a fast and almost painless solution for this.

What are the benefits of non-surgical rhinoplasty?

There are many benefits of non-surgical rhinoplasty, such as:

  • Bruising and swelling are minimal
  • The procedure takes less than an hour
  • Results are immediate
  • Changes are reversible
  • Results last approximately 12 months
  • Less expensive than a surgical procedure

A noninvasive rhinoplasty requires no anesthesia, which means the patient can return to their routine within hours. Dr. Chang will use a topical numbing cream to comfort the patient and ensure a well-tolerated procedure.

What can non-surgical rhinoplasty fix?

A non-surgical rhinoplasty can fix many issues that may cause a lack of confidence due to your nose appearance.

  • Creating a more symmetrical look
  • Hiding a bump in the bridge
  • Adding height to a flat nasal bridge
  • Adding a projection to the tip (for a more turned up nose)
  • Improvement of nasal appearance after injury

While a non-surgical rhinoplasty may be enough to resolve your condition without the need to undergo surgery, more extensive nose shape problems will require surgery to fix.

A non-surgical nose job can improve many cosmetic issues, but rhinoplasty is the only way to actually reduce nose size, resolve a larger, drooping or bulbous nose tip, or breathing problems associated with a deviated septum.

What can I expect from a non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure?

Before your non-surgical rhinoplasty, Dr. Chang will consult with you and discuss your desired results. Before your injections, Dr. Chang will apply topical anesthesia to dull the sensation of the injections. Once the numbness has settled in, he will inject dermal fillers to specific areas to achieve the desired look. The entire treatment takes only 10 to 30 minutes.

What is the recovery like from non-surgical rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is not an invasive procedure and has little to no downtime. After your treatment, you may experience slight redness and swelling, but will be able to continue with your daily activities within an hour of your treatment.

What is the recovery time after non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment?

There is no real recovery time, although some patients experience minor swelling and numbness in the area treated. The application of ice can help reduce swelling. Some may experience some redness or bruising. Most people simply return to their usual daily routine after treatment. Avoid applying deodorant or antiperspirant for 72 hours after treatment, and do not shave underarms until any sensitivity has subsided.

Is a non-surgical rhinoplasty right for me?

The nose is one of the most noticeable features of the human face and can completely change your overall look. Many people have problems with nose appearance, whether due to genetics or accidents, or injuries that have led to an asymmetrical or unattractive look.

If you are experiencing a lack of confidence due to the appearance of your nose, but are not ready to undergo surgical treatment, non-surgical rhinoplasty may be right for you. Most patients who seek out non-surgical rhinoplasty have a lack of symmetry or a bump on the nose bridge.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty may be the ideal treatment. Please make sure to discuss your current health, any medical conditions, and medications and supplements you take with Dr. Chang during your consultation.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty FAQs

Which injectables are used in a non-surgical rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to fill and reshape the nose appearance. The fillers commonly used to enhance nose appearance include:

  • Juvéderm
  • Voluma
  • Vollure
  • Restylane

For some patients, BOTOX may be injected to relax the muscle that pulls down the tip of the nose.

How long does a non-surgical rhinoplasty last?

A non-surgical rhinoplasty performed with a hyaluronic acid filler will last up to 18 months with Juvéderm Voluma before it begins to dissipate, requiring a touchup. If you love the changes to your nose shape achieved with a temporary dermal filler, a longer-lasting filler can be injected in the future.

Are there any risks to a non-surgical rhinoplasty?

While the risks of non-surgical rhinoplasty are few, there is the risk of injecting too close to end arteries in the nose, which can cause rare complications. To avoid these risks, ensure your treatment is performed by a highly-skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience in non-surgical rhinoplasty treatments, such as Dr. Chang.

What is the cost of non-surgical rhinoplasty?

Compared to a traditional, surgical rhinoplasty, non-surgical rhinoplasty is much more budget-friendly. The cost will vary slightly, depending upon the type and quantity of the fillers injected, but is in the range of $1,000.

Who is the ideal candidate for non-surgical rhinoplasty?

If you have a pronounced hump on your nose bridge, you may be the perfect candidate for this treatment. Surprisingly, adding volume around the hump can make your nose look far smaller. If you have an uneven nose structure, a pinched-looking nose tip, or a droopy tip, you may be a candidate. If you feel your nose bridge is too broad, you may need surgery to create a more refined look.

What is the recovery like?

Recovery from a non-surgical nose job is virtually painless. You may see redness or minor bruising which quickly fades. Apply ice to reduce any residual swelling.

Can a non-surgical nose job help me resolve problems with a rhinoplasty?

If a previous rhinoplasty left your nose in a delicate condition that could make a revision surgery unsafe, you might be an appropriate candidate for filler injections.

Can my nose look smaller without surgery?

In many cases, yes – but not all. The injection of fillers can camouflage the appearance of a hump on the nose bridge, which can make your nose look smaller. Injections in the tip can cause the nose to lose a droopy tip appearance. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is most appropriate for less extreme nose shape problems.

Can a non-surgical nose job add height to my nose bridge?

Every patient is different. In some cases, fillers can subtly enhance the height of the nose bridge. For more extensive reshaping and definition, you may achieve a better result with surgery.
