Asian rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that reshapes the nose for patients who have features common in a range of Asian countries. An Asian rhinoplasty is a highly individualized procedure performed to enhance the nose structure, so it looks natural and in harmony and balance with your other facial features.

A rhinoplasty, when performed by a highly-skilled plastic surgeon, is never a “one size fits all” procedure. Knowledge of nasal structure, along with advanced surgical technique, make it possible to customize nose reshaping to enhance the facial features women or men who have uniquely Asian features.

Is Asian Rhinoplasty right for me?

Any adult in good health who wants to alter the shape, size, or projection of the nose can benefit from rhinoplasty. Some of the issues that can be corrected include:

  • Wide tip
  • Round or large tip
  • Flat bridge
  • Wide nostrils
  • Asymmetrical nose

Virtually any aspect of the nose that you believe is affecting your appearance, and making you look less attractive, can be resolved with a custom Asian rhinoplasty. Minute adjustments can be made by adding or reducing the volume of the nose bridge, reshaping nostrils, or other alterations to bring more harmony to your facial features. If you have a deviated septum, a septoplasty can be performed during you’re the same surgical procedure to improve breathing, sleep quality, and overall health.

What makes Asian rhinoplasty different?

Patients of Asian descent tend to seek out rhinoplasty to improve facial appearance. The anatomy and bone structure of Asian noses often differs greatly from those of other ethnicities. The cartilage in the tip tends to be softer, and the skin around the nostrils may be thicker and sebaceous.

How Asian Rhinoplasty is Performed

Rhinoplasty DC

There are two forms of rhinoplasty: open and closed. Closed rhinoplasty involves performing surgical corrections from within small incisions inside the nose, resulting in no visible scarring. An open rhinoplasty procedure involves an incision at the base of the cartilage separating your nostrils. The scar that develops there will be concealed within the natural contours of your nose and is generally not noticed by others.

Once the incision is made, the cartilage and bone in your nose can be altered or removed to achieve the desired nose shape. In some cases, a graft or implant can be used to add volume to the bridge of the nose. Rhinoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure and you a free to return home after surgery is complete but will be unable to drive – you will need another adult to assist you.

Recovery
& Results

The recovery from an Asian rhinoplasty will vary based on the extent of the modifications that were made to the nose structure. You will need to plan for several days off work and can resume most of your usual activities within two weeks of the surgery. Your nose shape will continue to improve as the months pass and the residual swelling disappears.

After the initial swelling goes down, you will be able to experience your enhanced nose shape. When an Asian rhinoplasty has been performed with skill and meticulous attention to detail, your nose will flatter your other features for a more appealing, attractive appearance. Dr. Chang has extensive experience and employs the most precise surgical techniques to create changes in nose structure that will enhance your facial features while maintaining the beauty of an Asian heritage.
